shades of grey

Confession: In the winter, all I want to wear is black leggings, oversized tops and boots –  every. single. day.  Accomplishing that level of comfort while still keeping some variety in my wardrobe can definitely be challenging.

This outfit was worn on an early winter day when it wasn’t so cold that I absolutely needed a beanie and bubble coat just yet.  I was lucky enough that my first winter living in Boston didn’t come directly after summer!

The boots are great to pair with some scrunchy socks.  They are a low top combat boot which allows the ankle to show (there’s my ankle obsession again), and not just your average boot, these have flair! Er, fringe!!  Even though I chose to hide the ankle with some socks, I chose fairly thin socks to scrunch up, not to add too much bulk.    This lightweight collarless coat is one of my favorite pieces.  I love that it is structured yet drapes and flows all at once.  I topped it off with this charcoal wide brimmed fedora.
